Parenting adventures: From chaos to crafts

Welcome to my world of parenting! Here, I share the real-life adventures of raising four kids, two of whom are twins, alongside our furry and fluffy companions. Expect stories, advice, and a healthy dose of reality about navigating the ups and downs of family life.

Navigating the teenage years and beyond

One of the most common challenges I face, and one I believe many parents can relate to, is dealing with kids' attitudes, especially with children aged 14, 12, 11, and 11. It's a journey filled with growth, negotiation, and a constant learning curve for everyone. Join me as I share my strategies and experiences.

Kids and Money

Can we just take a bit and talk about how kids think they need new every year with things? I was just helping my oldest clean her room so it was organized better, she found her shin guards from this last season of soccer. She asked if we were keeping them or going to buy new for next season. I just looked at her like she was crazy. She's 14 she has been the same height for like 3 years now, she must think money grows on trees or something. Don't get me wrong if they were worn in, looked like they needed to be replaced or had damage done to them in any way at all I would no doubt drop the money on new. These still look brand new, have no cracks or any wear look to them. This coming season will be her first year on varsity so it's not like she will be playing the entire game or anywhere near she did this past season on modified. Please if I am wrong in thinking she doesn't need new next season correct me. I just don't like dropping money on things that aren't really needed when we have the same thing that is in good condition.

Home school NYS

Homeschooling is something that seems to be becoming a more popular than it was. Maybe it is just I am noticing it more. Who knows. I wanted to come on here though and talk about it. I home school 2/4 of my kids right now. Back during covid and after for a bit I had all 4 kids home. I have had people ask me over the years all kinds of questions about it. I get questions from how I manage having all 4 kids home all the time, to what programs I use, to how to get started. So, I figured I would come here and post a kind of how to list. At first, I won't lie I was scared to do it as I had 4 kids on 3 different levels that I was going to be teaching. Which at first, just like anything new, things were crazy. It is an adjustment period when you take your kids from public school to homeschool, for everyone. I have to say though it is an amazing thing to do though, you get to watch your children learn even more than you do when they are in public school, that look when they finally get something they have been struggling with, being able to teach them how you feel is right, and developing that connection with your children that you do is absolutely amazing. Ok enough babbling here is your "how to" list of how to get started with homeschooling.
